British Nurses Set to Launch a Historic Strike

The largest strike in the history of the NHS will take place today (Thursday) as nurses throughout the UK walk out in protest.

The nation’s nationalised healthcare system is in a state of crisis as they are ready to leave hospitals and march onto picket lines as a result of years of diminishing pay and conditions.
Employees of Britain’s National Health Service (NHS), a cherished but troubled institution that is under strain due to staffing shortages, sky-high demand, and constrained finances, have endured suffering for several years.
The RCN is requesting a wage increase of 5% over retail inflation, or a 19% increase based on current numbers, as well as the filling of a record number of staff positions that are endangering patient safety. However, the administration emphasised their demand as “unaffordable.”
